(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.) — Mayor Richard C. David on Wednesday announced the City of Binghamton will waive its blue bag refuse collection requirements for residents impacted by recent flash flooding. The program will begin immediately and last through Aug. 24.
The assistance is available to residential properties in neighborhoods impacted by recent flash flooding, primarily on Binghamton’s East Side and other isolated areas of the City.
Residents may place refuse in standard garbage bags for pickup until Aug. 24 at no cost. Typically, residents must use blue City bags for refuse collection at the curb, which are sold at City Hall and local retailers.
To seek assistance or determine eligibility, residents should contact DPW dispatch at (607) 772-7020.
The City will evaluate the program at its conclusion to determine if a time extension is needed.
