Mayor Kraham Signs 2025 Budget
(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.)—Mayor Jared M. Kraham on Thursday issued the following statement:
"This week, I signed the 2025 Budget into law after a bipartisan majority of City Council approved it, 6-1.
"The $108 million spending plan continues to deliver the results residents deserve, from critical services that support priorities like public safety, paved streets and clean drinking water to transformative projects that improve neighborhoods and help build a better future. As importantly, the 2025 Budget protects taxpayers, with smart spending and responsible fiscal management.
"As part of next year's budget, we'll continue our work to bring the Police Department back to full staffing, support neighborhood foot and bike patrols, and invest in the technology and resources that help solve and prevent crimes.
"We'll kick off the design of a new fire station on the North Side to help keep residents safe, and we'll tear down one of Binghamton's most notorious eyesores, the Binghamton Plaza, to clear the way for new development and better access to public green space.
"We'll invest millions in our neighborhoods, from infrastructure improvements to new housing and support for first-time homebuyers and senior homeowners who need help making repairs.
"We will build on the recent momentum that's pushing Binghamton forward, with a growing economy, stronger neighborhoods and some of the lowest crime rates on record.
"My thanks to the City Councilmembers and department heads who spent hours on the budget review process working to make sure the City has the best possible spending plan on behalf of taxpayers."
