Post Date:11/19/2024 7:09 AM

(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.)Mayor Jared M. Kraham on Tuesday announced a contract extension between the City of Binghamton and Indigo Sports for operation of the Ely Park Golf Course in the First Ward through 2028.

Mayor Kraham said: "Ely Park Golf Course has undergone a remarkable transformation in the years since the City began working with Indigo Sports. The course is in the best shape in recent memory, and annual rounds, memberships and revenue are all on the rise. Ely Park has always been one of our community's hidden gems, and now it's home to one of the best golf courses in the region."

Annual rounds at Ely Park are up by more than 51 percent since the City hired the national golf management firm to manage the course in 2021. The golf course hosted more than 32,000 rounds of golf this year, an increase of nearly 11 percent over 2023.

Membership passes are also on the rise, with 218 purchased this year, compared to 115 in 2021.

Annual revenue has more than doubled in that time, with the course bringing in more than $950,000 this year.

Christopher Strand, Regional Director of Operations for Indigo Sports, said: "We are thrilled that, with the support of the City, we've been able to turn things around at Ely Park Golf Course and tap into its immense potential. Attendance and sales continue to climb, and we frequently hear positive feedback from visitors impressed by the ongoing improvements to course conditions and the facility. We're excited about continuing to work with the City to deliver a premier golf product for the community."

In 2021, Indigo took over all golf operations, course maintenance, food and beverage sales, marketing, and financial and administrative duties at Ely Park Golf Course.

The course has been owned by the City since it was built in 1933.
