Mayor Kraham Announces Details of Annual Downtown Binghamton Tree Lighting
Holiday Event Returns on Small Business Saturday
(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.)—Mayor Jared M. Kraham on Monday announced the City of Binghamton will hold its annual holiday tree lighting ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 30 at the Washington Street Mall in downtown Binghamton.
Mayor Kraham said: "Downtown Binghamton's tree lighting ceremony has quickly become one of the community's favorite ways to kick off the holiday season. In addition to family-friendly festivities, the event is a great chance for residents to support our local shops and restaurants on Small Business Saturday. Downtown Binghamton has so much to offer year round, and this time of year especially. Thank you to our sponsors for helping make this event possible."
The holiday tree lighting celebration will kick off at 5 p.m. with live music, holiday activities and free hot chocolate. This year's event will feature caroling from the Tri-Cities Opera Youth Choir.
Mayor Kraham will join community members to light the tree in the Washington Street Mall, near the intersection of Court and Washington and streets, at 5:30pm.
Several Binghamton businesses will be offering discounts and holding events in honor of Small Business Saturday. For more information on local offerings, visit the City of Binghamton Department of Economic Development's Facebook page.
This year's tree lighting is presented by title sponsor Greenlight Networks, with support from WBNG and the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce.
The tree comes from Sunny Hill Farms in Endwell.
