City of Binghamton Winter Parking Rules Return This Weekend

(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.)Mayor Jared M. Kraham on Tuesday reminded residents that the City of Binghamton's winter alternate side parking rules take effect Sunday, December 1st at 5pm.

Mayor Kraham said: "Binghamton's alternate side parking rules return for the winter this weekend. We're reminding residents that police will be actively enforcing parking laws and ticketing violators. When residents follow the City's winter parking rules, they're helping make sure our plow drivers can safely and efficiently clear the streets and keep roads open to emergency vehicles during snow events."

The City's alternate side parking rules are in effect daily December 1st through March 15th.

During snow events, residents are strongly encouraged to move vehicles off the street and into driveways or parking lots at City parks to assist with snow removal efforts.

The City's alternate side parking policy includes the following guidelines:

  • On even calendar days, park on the even side of the street until 5pm.
  • On odd calendar days, park on the odd side of the street until 5pm.
  • The change in parking occurs each day at 5pm.
For example, since December 2 is an even day, vehicles must be moved to the odd side of the street at 5pm Residents should think, "Park for tomorrow."
  • Rules are in effect 24 hours per day.
  • Alternate side parking rules apply to all City streets, including those with parking on only one side, except for those explicitly listed as exempt below.
  • Streets with no parking on both sides of the street remain no parking zones on both sides of the street. In these cases, alternate side parking does not apply.
