Mayor Kraham Announces Eco-Friendly Paint Recycling Event

(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.)—Mayor Jared M. Kraham on Monday announced a free paint recycling event to be held on Saturday, May 3, between 9:00am and 1:00pm.

The City of Binghamton is partnering with GreenSheen, a national paint recycling organization, to host the eco-friendly event through the Department of Public Works. The collection will take place at 17 Broad Avenue, where Greensheen will be on-site to assist with the drop-off process and ensure materials are properly recycled.

Accepted materials include latex and oil-based paint, acrylic paint, urethanes, varnishes, shellacs, lacquers, primers, and clear coatings in their original containers (5 gallons or smaller). There is no limit to the amount residents can bring, and all usable materials will be recycled into new latex paint.

Items not accepted include spray paints, household hazardous waste, electronics, paint thinner, driveway sealers, marine and auto paints.

Attendees should remain in their vehicles. Staff will direct drivers to drop-off lanes and handle unloading to ensure a safe and efficient process.
