State Street Parking Garage to Close Jan. 5 Ahead of Demolition

(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.)—Mayor Jared M. Kraham on Friday announced the State Street Parking Garage will close on January 5, 2026 ahead of its demolition next year.

Mayor Kraham said: "As the City moves forward with plans to tear down the aging State Street parking ramp, LAZ Parking is working to relocate monthly parkers and bring operations to a close. Downtown's two new parking garages on Water Street and Hawley Street are providing residents and visitors with safe and easy parking options. With the State Street ramp at the end of its useful life, demolition will clear the way for economic development opportunities in a critical corner of downtown Binghamton."

Mayor Kraham announced plans for the ramp's demolition in September during his 2026 Budget Address. The ramp, located on the corner of State and Henry streets, was built in 1970.

The City plans to request bids for demolition of the garage in the coming weeks.
