Alternate Side Parking Returns

City of Binghamton Alternate Side Parking Rules Return Monday

(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.)Mayor Jared M. Kraham on Sunday reminded residents that the City of Binghamton's winter alternate side parking rules will take effect Monday, December 1st at 5pm.

Mayor Kraham said: "Monday marks the return of alternate side parking in Binghamton. Residents are reminded that police will be actively enforcing all parking laws and ticketing violators. The City's winter parking rules are critical to snow removal operations and help our plow drivers keep the roads safe during winter weather."

The City's alternate side parking rules are in effect daily December 1st through March 15th. The policy includes the following guidelines:

  • On even calendar days, park on the even side of the street until 5pm.
  • On odd calendar days, park on the odd side of the street until 5pm.
  • The change in parking occurs each day at 5pm For example, since December 2nd is an even day, vehicles must be moved to the odd side of the street at 5pm Residents should think, "Park for tomorrow."
  • Rules are in effect 24 hours per day.
  • Alternate side parking rules apply to all City streets, including those with parking on only one side, except for those areas explicitly listed as exempt below. Streets with no parking on both sides of the street remain no parking zones on both sides of the street. In these cases, alternate side parking does not apply.

The following areas are exempt from alternate side parking rules:

  • All Kiosk Parking
  • Alfred StreetBetween Grand and Lookout Streets
  • The Arena StreetBetween Conklin Avenue and the Circuit Street/Locke Drive (full extent)
  • Clinton StreetBetween Glenwood Avenue and Jarvis Street
  • Conklin AvenueBetween South Washington Street and the State Street Bridge off-ramp
  • Court StreetBetween the Court Street Bridge and Fayette Street
  • Crandall StreetBetween Clinton Street and the dead-end
  • Delavan AvenueBetween Iva Avenue and the dead-end to the northeast
  • Fayette StreetBetween Court Street and Susquehanna Street
  • Florence AvenueBetween Eaton Place and Leroy Street
  • Front StreetBetween Riverside Drive and Leroy Street
  • Harrison StreetBetween Matthews Street and West End Avenue
  • Judson AvenueBetween Lorraine Avenue and Glenwood Avenue
  • King AvenueBetween Street John Avenue and Walnut Street
  • Lookout StreetBetween Telegraph Street and Alfred Street
  • Lourdes RoadBetween Riverside Drive and the dead-end to the north
  • McDonald AvenueBetween Front Street and Front Street
  • Minerva AvenueBetween Grand Boulevard and Schubert Street
  • Mitchell AvenueBetween Vestal Avenue and Morris Street
  • Oak StreetBetween Gaines Street and Prospect Street
  • Park AvenueBetween Vestal Avenue and Morris Street
  • Park StreetBetween Schubert Street and Harrison Street
  • Prospect StreetBetween Front Street and Glenwood Avenue
  • Ronan StreetBetween Baxter Street and Prospect Street (odd side only)
  • Seminary AvenueBetween Chestnut Street and Laurel Avenue
  • West StreetBetween Clinton Street and Phelps Street

During snow events, residents are strongly encouraged to avoid parking on the street and instead use driveways or parking lots at City parks to assist with snow removal efforts.
