(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.) — Mayor Jared M. Kraham on Thursday announced the return of free parking in downtown Binghamton garages on Saturdays in July.

Mayor Kraham said: “We’re excited to bring back free Saturday parking throughout July and continue supporting the businesses that make downtown Binghamton a vibrant destination. Free parking downtown makes it more convenient for residents and visitors to shop, dine and enjoy everything downtown has to offer this summer.” 

The free parking initiative will run July 11, 18 and 25. Parking downtown is already free on Sundays.

It includes free parking in the Water Street and Hawley Street parking garages, as well as the surface parking lot on Collier Street.

Historically, July has been the lowest-revenue month for parking in downtown Binghamton.

In 2025, Binghamton’s first year implementing the free parking promotion, parking garage and lot usage more than doubled in July.

The free parking program stemmed from conversations between City officials and small business owners as a way to promote business during the summer months and increase foot traffic downtown.

City Council approved the measure at its June 3 Business Meeting.
